Become a Validator

Participate in the Chiliz Chain's consensus mechanism by creating and validating blocks.

What is a validator?

Chiliz Chain is run by a Proof of Staked Authority (PoSA) consensus mechanism, which is primarily managed by two key roles:

  • the Validator, who is a critical part of the chain. The validators create and validate blocks in turns.

  • the Delegator, who allocates their CHZ to the validator's pool in order to participate in the governance of the chain and earn reward.

In Chiliz Chain, there can be a maximum of 11 block-creating validators. There can also be an unlimited amount of active validators which are not creating blocks, but are in the queue in case a block-creating validator goes down or gets "jailed".

Prerequisites to becoming a Chiliz Chain Validator

To become a validator on Chiliz Chain, you need to satisfy the below criteria:

  1. You must be vetted and approved by the Chiliz Labs, which is our off-chain governance entity. Learn more about Chiliz Labs by sending an email to labs@chiliz.com.

  2. You need to run your own validator node, or use a third-party service to run the node for you.

  3. You need to stake a MINIMUM of 10 million CHZ.

Once the above is completed, you can register as a Validator on Chiliz Governance dApp.

How to register as a validator

You must first reach out to labs@chiliz.com before registering as a Validator.
